Help wanted on making MusicVideos

iMovie - if you have a Mac. Word of warning - movie editing takes a lot of processing power, particularly on windows - and you can end up with some frustrating results (sound out of sync) - basically, have a play and see how you get on, I would say. If you can record AVI files on the Canon, start with those and have a play.

That's my suggestion, anyway.

I use Windows Movie Maker as a lot of people and as said some songcrafters friends in their replies before me.
You can in a first time use WMM to start to edit some videos recorded on your phone cell, and record sounds files on your Micro Br and paste it on your movies

Have a good try!

Is WMM still around for the latest Windows OS? This was a year or so ago, and I remember having to download a free applet in the same fashion you would with Sky Drive, etc. It was a PITA to use and I hated it. And it wouldn't convert mp4 very well which is critical, as many phones record to that format. The YouTube feature worked pretty good, though.

Maybe I'll try it again sometime, see if any new improvements have been made.

Excellent, thanks. Hopefully it works better than the initial offering.

I love VLC - Playback format compatibility is almost unmatched for a free program. I'm sure this product will be of a similar quality.

I bought Adobe Premier Elements 9, then found Windows Live Movie Maker for Win 7
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started

Adobe Premiere Elements costs $, not so easy to use and occasionally seems to hang on my machine.
Windows Live Movie Maker is free! Seems to be easy to use, even for me. It tries to install a crapload of other MS applications if you click install everything when getting it.
VLCM seems to be still in its very early alpha stages, cant wait though for it to mature, VLC is most useful!

Yeah, I didn't notice that till after I posted. I saw the screenshots and assumed it was a finished product. But then I came back to the site later and saw that there was no download page. Oh well. I guess we'll have to wait. Should be good when it's done though, if VLC is anything to judge it by. I did find a development site where you can download the current unstable release if you're brave (it could be very buggy at this stage).

There are lots of other open source video editors (Pitivi, OpenShot, Kino, Kdenlive, LiVES, etc.) but most of them are for Linux only, which is fine by me but not much use to most of our members. A few will also work with Mac OS X, though I think Mac users have to compile the source code themselves.

One that I mentioned earlier in this topic is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and BSD. It's called Avidemux.

http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/

Not sure how good it is for making music videos but it's free, so worth checking out.
