Help wanted on making MusicVideos

Some of you good people produce some interesting videos to go with your songs. I was contemplating the idea of making some reeeaaaaaly LoFi attempts myself as the only videocams I've got is an old VHSC which is not at option and the ones on my Nokia 6300 cell-phone and canon ixus pocket camera.

Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding what software I could use (including necessary converters), of course wanting to replace the audio with that from the MBR? I want to be able to combine different takes in an easy matter, and easily have control of the video/audio sync.

Windows Movie Maker is pretty basic, but it's allowed me to mash together my music with film footage ripped from YouTube. It's not hi-tech, but it's a start. Hopefully someone else will give you a much better reply than this!

i messaged geir earlier, i used ulead videostudio 9 which came installed on my pc, its a bit of a learning curve but not unlike using cubase or audicity except with video and audio. how i make my  lofi vids is, i mime to the song and film it on my casio exilim camera. (£99 at jessops) import the video into ulead and remove the audio from the camera footage, then import the mp3 of the song i was miming into ulead. thats the easy bit, the hard bit is getting it all in sync, sometimes its like threading a needle. previously i had a cheap vivatar digital camera and you can see from my earlier videos getting them in sync was harder. that camera was like tape that stretched and tightened whereas my new camera  records pretty much in real time so is much easier to sync and stay in sync throughout the video, re programs i think most video editing software progs are very similar, i have used the one tim mentioned but is quite basic but a good easy program to learn on, tho am not sure yif you can remove audio from videos to replace, maybe tim could clarify on that

Yep... you can mute the existing soundtrack in Windows Movie Maker and add your own mp3. The other good thing about WMV is that you can add titles and credits etc.

Sounds like WMM is a good place to start then even tho' I hate to use a MS product  ;D ..

Kody

Geir, I've been using Windows Movie Maker for my videos.  I bought a Kodak Zi6: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-locale=en_US&pq-path=13063&cm_mmc=Google-_-360i-_-Easyshare-Zi6-_-kodak%20zi6  It's relatively cheap, and it records in HD...Only $150 American dollars...comes with software that I never use~ except the Youtube upload feature...It's uploads videos to Youtube really fast!

The video I made for the Bluefest collaboration was done on Video Impression 2....It's pretty crappy overall....seems to be decades behind lol~ It came with my $30 HP Webcam...

For syncing audio with video for free, WMM is the only option I know of....Once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake!!

Interesting.......

I have used Adobe Premier and it's fantastic if you're a film/video tape editor.

Do you want to make video's of you playing or a video of different themes & topics , i recently purchased a product made by Singular Software called DuelEyes , you can use any type of video with crappy sound from the camera that you are filming with , but also say , use your MBR or BR80 to record the soundtrack , then put both the video + the BR sound into the program, and DuelEyes will sync the sound from the BR with the video minus the crappy sound from the camera , the other one i have is PluralEyes , which will take as many clips of video as you can take  ( i.e.  different angles & so on ) & will still sync to that one soundtrack , without clappers or any other device , give it a look
