I'd like to get some small (as possble) monitors for using my MBR out of house-something decent sounding and cheap if possible
Battery powered would be a plus
Any ideas?

i'd personally prefer using headphones for my own purposes vs. any battery powered speaker system. but, these look pretty darn sweet and they're made by JBL (or so they claim...) at 3watts per channel though, i dunno...

Those speakers actually look pretty darn good
I like headphones as well, I use a pr AKG's, i get fatigued by them after a while-at home I use a set of powered monitors- the ipod spkrs would be for jammin' fireside-friends house ect
Thanks
Ron

I've never heard them, but I like the design of these Altec Lansing speakers:

No silly iPod dock which you don't need. Just a retractable audio cable that plugs right into the Micro BR's headphone jack. There's also an auxiliary input which you can use if you need a longer cable. And the rubberized top of the base unit provides a convenient platform which your Micro BR won't slide off. Runs on 4 AA batteries or the included AC adapter.

Just noticed this new stereo amp from Roland which might be ideal for your requirements.

Runs on 6 AA batteries or optional AC adapter (PSB series - not PSA). It can be attached to a microphone stand. Not sure when it will be available in the US. Roland UK says June 2008.

Roland UK says they'll be available in June. I assume it will be about the same in the US.

Here's a video about the Mobile Cube:

http://www.soundonsound.com/news?NewsID=9961

At the end, the guy says it will cost £99 (about $200US).

Thomann has it on their website for £109.

Soundslive.co.uk has it on their site for £115.

The cost of the Mobile Cube might be more than you'd planned on spending but it sure seems to be an ideal addition to the Micro BR or BR-600 for a very portable, stereo monitoring system.

As a cheaper alternative, you could consider these:

They run on 2 AA batteries or USB power and have a built-in amplifier.
