Quote from: chapperz66 on August 21, 2020, 02:51:20 AMThanks so much for your kind words.   I really appreciate it.  I am actually seriously considering getting a few pieces together and submitting them to a library or two, just to see what happens. It would be a blast if somebody gave me 20 quid for a piece of music!  I'll carry on doing a bit of research and see what happens.

Yep, do it!

(Btw - I've put a question for you in the "taking the plunge thread" - I started it here, but it seemed more "on topic" there :))

Fab Paul, it's got a middle eastern feel, good choice of mode.

I like what you're doing with these libraries, I must keep away from them...

This is great. Very creative composition and arrangement. Great use of samples and synth voices. Could definitely see this in the soundtrack of a sci-fi or suspense/action film.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

The sound is very inventive and instantly likable when you hear the track , i have no idea who you use the samples through a keyboard i presume , but its very catchy and  inspiring to the ear , i am intrigued to know how you get on with the "libary" side of things and how all that stuff works .

Great stuff

Hi Dunny
Yes you play them on a midi keyboard in pretty much the same way as any other software instrument - you open a track, put the vst instrument on it , select a sound and play it.  The only difference between an orchestral sample library and- say - a hammond organ vst is that many of the better orchestral libraries have lots of different articulations.  You don't just choose a first violin, you also choose from the available playing articulations like pizzicato, legato, col legno, sul pont etc.

Not being classically trained, all I usually do is play the violin parts using legato on one track. If I think the middle note would be better if it was pizzicato I copy the whole track onto another track and put a pizzicato sample on it, then delete all the notes except the one I want plucked.  Finally I go back to the first track and delete the legato note that I want to sound plucked.  Hours of fun!

Thanks Paul that has opened another box for me to think about in the future, you get a great sound and the options must be endless in recording music , great stuff and thank you

Really inventive Paul... definitely lends itself to the world of intrigue and that takes some doing to create that feeling with music. Everything blended nicely together. Great stuff.
