Blues tales come and go but no stranger tale than the story of the great blues player comb Mahair.
On a cold September night Comb was found outside an orphanage in a guitar case wrapped in a silk scarf and beside him was a small mirror with a message saying from loving arms.

Years passed and  a young comb took to guitar naturally and before long was playing in several bands on the circuit.

After a few years he got his big break playing with Stevie Gray van and the ball snappers and before long he was burning it up as a solo artist with his band the warped mirrors but on reflection things didnt look good.

Life on the road took its toll and the band became addicted to laxatives.

As the balding group manager Art failure stated in his autobiography titled ...Comb over to my place "there was some heavy shit going down and we had to nip it in the bud and cut the crap ".

The band went down the pan and comb got his shit together and went on to  make the acclaimed album  star Twister .

It was from this album that Keep myself alive was recorded and features a young Flash Harry on Bass.
His trusty black strat guitar was covered in mirrors and his signature move was to hold it up to his face and check his appearance while doing a solo.

The crowd loved it.
Things looked great but on a cold September night as the band boarded a private jet comb had a premonition and wouldn't board the plane and said he would take his car to the gig.

On route  he overtook a lorry on orphanage road and when he looked in his wing mirror noticed a hair out of place,he tried sorting it and lost control of the car and collided with the lorry .

He was pronounced dead at the scene outside a local bar.

The name of the bar was ...The loving Arms,on orphanage road,on a cold September night and the lorry he collided with was carrying silk scarfs.

He lay there and beside him was his guitar case silk scarfs, and a car wing mirror.

A freaky trail of coincidence?or a date made with the other side all those years ago.

Another mystery fades into the vaults of time.

...and the legend lives on in his music. That's an excellent Mahair cut, Kenny. Big time axe work. Sad story. Mahair must have had bald tires. Sad...
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Greeny

That's a very glam rock guitar. A bit like Noddy Holder's mirror tele.

Some fab, driving blues going down here. Great guitar tones and riffage, and a nice solid bass from young Flash.

Beauty!

I'm sure that Comb made that deal with the devil all those years ago. Not something you could brush off lightly, I believe his German representative Herr Restorer may have been involved....

The deal paid off. This was an awesome blues, a belter of a guitar sound and a raw and raucous vocal. And some cool backing from young Flash himself, a lot to like in this one!

You snuck that one in Kenny - I'd forgotten all about this!

It's great with the blues guitar and the vox. Transformed!

Nice one Kenny... this is right up my alley... I am a sucker for some straight up no bullshit bluesy rock n roll. Cracking guitar playing and tone as well. Strange old tale that one... it does make you wonder. I guess we'll never know the full truth but my guess is Robert Johnson had something to do with it!
