Beautiful Hilary.

I'm trying to get an alter ego song going too but its sounding too much like Meeeeeeeee.

No disrespect to anyone who has commented but its interesting how listeners often assume that the songs we write and sing are autobiographical. I often have to explain to people that the "I" in my songs is not necessarily "me".

well,. I can totally dig your lyrics... and I had to learn a new word...Ingenue.... to be honest one of the things I love about songcrafters so far is the accents....it's wonderful... the thing you are singing about here is kind of like do we matter?  Do we matter to anyone?  If I am gone is anyone even going to notice?  And I want to sing, but where can I go and maybe someone will listen....
for me I am a music first guy...don't know why, just I can hear music in my head but lyrics I have to really dig for and I am talking even listening to bands and artists etc.... words take me a long time to get... I can remember the music but the lyrics I have to write down....
So I grapple with the basic question...Do I matter really to anyone?  I suppose the more we love others we desire it back....and we are busy and don't have much time it seems.  I have a friend who is handicapped and wheel chair bound.  I have only known him for a little while....like 2 years... Well, he and his mom up and moved about 750 miles to be about 10 miles from me...so I feel a responsibility toward them...She is 87... so when I can I go by their house and bring her flowers... and cheer up my friend...and do what I can to tell them they matter to me... we do need each other...thank you for sharing this song...I hope this isn't too sentimental...anyway that is how I am!

Great post!
I think your writing is brilliant Hilary, and you can see people can feel how deep the lyrics can reach.
Well done!

It's an honour to be able to write something
a) that someone takes the time to listen to and
b) makes them feel something - happy/sad/thoughtful/introspective etc etc

Honestly it was just a hotch-potch of my imagination.

The hardest thing about the song was spelling engenue!

Amazing (I think you should drop the mediocrity!) - it's lovely that you make the time to cheer up your friend and their mum - you obviously mean the world to them.

Take care and keep being Amazing!

thanks for that and I have thought about it...and will still but it kind of fits my 3.2 personality in a 4.0 world...

Sweet, heartbreaking and too short.
