Francis Arse was born in Glasgow in 1960.

His father was a policeman and it was in the new home in Letsbe avenue that he was born .

They then moved to Albe avenue and it was here the journey into music began.

He went through the school years suffering abuse for his name and it wasnt until he reached 21 he changed his name by deedpoll to John Arse.

He bought his 1st guitar in a pawn shop,it was stuck in a corner in a case covered un cobwebs.

It was in his weekend job as a saddle polisher that he heard a young guy horsing around.

It was Gerit dwight Tupyou a young stable boy and he was also a keen musician and had recently acquired a piano from his uncle who had been involved in a horrific accident involving a horse and an anvil but was now in a stable condition.

In fact it was this incident that was responsible for Gerits 1st composition called Get of me horse, dont want   no mare.

They eventually formed Gerarse a play on both names but changed it to

The sweet narcotics, and it was off the 1st album titled   only here for the crack that this track appeared.

It was produced by the great Mi Elbow

The record executives  loved it and booked a world tour on the strenth of it but they both died instantly in a horrific car crash the day after the album was completed along with the producer.

They had been high on drugs and were fooling around

The producer  apparently told Gerit to spin John who was driving at the time.

In an official police statement it was said it appears that Mr Gerit had turned arse for elbow and they lost control.

The rest is history

This piece grabbed me, sent me to the past and shook me up! Dig the flow and minor(?) harmony in the chorus/bridge?

Nice work!

I had to play this several times because I was too busy crying (with laughter) over the terrible story of the Sweet Narcotics. Some great falsetto work in the vocals and a darned catchy song, no wonder they were going to be big before their untimely demise.

I believe Gerit's first song was the inspiration for Father Ted's Eurosong entry, My Lovely Horse.......

Cor, what a beauty. The falsetto is both brilliant and as catchy as fuck. The guitars sound amazing too - all the layers are distinctive but work in total harmony. The percussive lower-string twang part really helps drive it along. An amazing slice of pop.

I listened before I read the full sorry tale of the band... lol. What a story!

A really melodic song, got such a lovely feel that just carries you along. Great vocal... lots of love went into this one. A great song from such sad and poignant tale!

Really dug the raunchy edge on the guitars, and the vocals were just sublime. Well done, Kenny!
