TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN

A E A E Fm D A E Fm D A EA

I was listening  to a song on the jukebox
Sitting on a bar stool holding a dream
You walked through the door and changed my life
Our eyes met  I remember the scene
And I realised at that moment in my life I needed you

Standing alone I was no one
together I got it all
But I could see from the top of that Mountain, I'd sure have a long way to fall

Days passed by and we sure got along
We became more than friends
Moved into that one room flea pit of hole we called home
we smiled working hard through to the weekend
I Realised all I needed in my life was you

Standing alone I was no one
together I got it all
But I could see from the top of that Mountain, I'd sure have a long way to fall

When we got married it was the hight summer
God that sun was so warm
The day was like I was in a dream I was the man who had got it all
I Realised all I needed in my life was you

Standing alone I was no one
together I got it all
But I could see from the top of that Mountain, I'd sure have a long way to fall

Break

By Christmas she was pregnant
I was the happiest man in the whole wide world
A little boy due in September
I was living in a real dreamworld
I Realised all I needed in my life was you

Standing alone I was no one
together I got it all
But I could see from the top of that Mountain, I'd sure have a long way to fall

I got a phone call out of the blue
there had been an accident on the M62
I rushed to the hospital blind with fear
The doctor informed me I'd lost both you
I Realised all I needed in my life was you

Standing alone I was no one
together I got it all
But I could see from the top of that Mountain, I'd sure have a long way to fall

When I first saw it over on alonetone earlier, I thought "over 7 minutes!!!" ... but it flies by...

Gorgeous sounds.

Love the restrained emotional delivery.

Kept me on the whole journey. Really enjoyed the more tender vocal, and the guitar work is very effective indeed. Great atmosphere and performance.

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Powerful piece. Some great storytelling. Quite an emotional journey and I can see this being played at the end of the night in an old fashioned bar just after last orders with people getting all wistful while nursing their last drink. Nice one.

I love songs that tell stories, even if this one's a little too sad ... well done!

This is a very sad story you're singing Trevor but it certainly draws me into the song. Your versatile voice works very well in this genre also!
