There's this group, the Philarcadia, very little known, which has its base in a small town north of London. It's made up of three songwriters, Paul Max and Ken and a bunch of unemployed orchestral players. They usually play in local pubs, which is fine: the owners say they fill the place and eat and drink far much more than they earn. I like them, they're funny, but sorry to say they never occupied a place in the song market, perhaps cause they never managed to decide the genre of the songs they make (not even within a single song, actually)  ... Philarcadians here they come !

A real fun song and I enjoyed it from the start to the end! Excellent vocals and a cool guitar solo. Some fine work gentlemen!

I've seen this band advertising Cider on TV. I'm so glad that you've posted this, I'd been looking for them with their musical smorgasbord per song.

Truly excellent!

Kudos to the band! Left a smile on my face and a tap in my foot.  Great production! Loved the guitar tones and harmonies.

Philarcadia would probably have been massive in the early 70s with their brand of infectious, catchy but quite complex proggy songs. Great to hear someone digging out their recordings. Maybe they could find an audience of older musos who grew up in that era and now have too much time on their hands. I wonder where they would find them.....?

Really enjoyed this one, great songwriting and arranging with so much to delight the ears. It really holds your interest as it twists and turns through five and half minutes of great music.

I heard a story once about this session form a guy who used to deliver illegal supplies of ventolin to the record producer.  Apparently the idea had been to fade the song much earlier to make it more radio friendly, but the producer couldn't bare to lose any of Ken "the hat" Macvittie's tasteful guitar at the end.  Also the other bit of guitar was supposed to be some subtle breaks in between the vocals, but sadly Chopper Paulman must have been playing truant from school the day subtlety was taught.

Thankfully Max "Factor" Greco was there to keep some semblance of order.

This story may, perhaps be apocryphal.  It might not even be true.  Who can say?

I really liked this - it sounded like you are all having so much fun that you didn't want it to end.

Nice one Max, Kenny and Paul.
