Rain Morning

Now, THIS is really my thing.  A Beatles tune, and one of the best ever.  One that most casual listeners wouldn't know, but all true Beatles fans absolutely love.  This is such a great version because it captures the essence of the original, but still has elements that make it your own take.  Awesome vocals, by the way.  I am betting this is what it would sound like if The Apples in Stereo (one of my favorite bands) recorded this song.  I also dig the live rain sound effects, another thing that sets it apart from the original.  I think the harmonies in the verses (but not the chorus) are just a little different from the original too, no?  Great track, hooper!

PS: Why isn't there this much love in the BR-1600 section?  Everyone needs to make their way over there regularly!  Blooby and I are on a lonely island!

It's a masterpiece, Ken. Even by your usual ultra-high performance and production standards, this is something very special. And as for doing that all on the BR - it should be included on a demo disc to show new BR buyers what the micro is capable of! Gonna have another listen now... !

Love this song - used to play this over and over as a kid. Like your vox big time!!

Great version - sound effects were the icing!

Thanks all for the kind comments.   :)
I have been trying to ween myself off of doing covers and focus more on originals.  Only problem is: When I can't come up with anything good original I just end up playing nothing.  Anyway, I went ahead and whacked this one out so at least I could play something.  There are so many good songwriters around here it's daunting, challenging, exciting and inspiring.

Blooby, I expect you're right about a little dryer lead vox would be better.  The lead vox was double tracked with some delay (no reverb) on it each time. But of course, when you double-track the sync is never perfect ... which means that the delays are a bit out of sync too... so you end up with a lot of 'reflections' going on.  Might have been better to put the delay on one vox track only and leave the other one dry.

;)Hooper, I love the 1st part with the rain and birds...  When the music starts, I feel like wanting to jump in a lake and swim with the rain falling all around me.  Great recording my friend!  Tight and clear
