My Shadow - rough & ready mix. A first initial version of a silly, bordering on daft little song. A work in progress.

I'm jealous of my shadow
He seems to be quite chilled
Has no worries of the turmoil of this
Twisted , wicked world

He follows me on most days
Given available light
Of course he's only part time
He disappears at night

I look for him on dull days
Alas to no avail
He chooses when he's in the mood
To cast his shadowy spell

We've never had a cross word
In all our time so far
We're happy just drift along
We're very similar

I often wonder would he follow me
Just anywhere
To the shop, the beach, the park
He really doesnt care

I'm lucky im not paranoid
Or a nervous type
would he follow me off a cliff
Yea, I think he just might

Lovely stuff Andy... it's got a great retro feel. Nice and carefree with some great jazzy licks. Lyrics are super.

Lovely playing and a super lyric. Just a great feel and performance. A winner.

There's lots going on here, Silly  - yep, the lyric is a bit daft, shadows, we all have them, we all know then but you've given this one a separate persona, which has been done before - I think AA Milne has something to say about shadows.

Then there's the melody - on the face of it, simple, maybe childish or perhaps a bit dadaist which fits the shadow lyric and complements the slightly naive view expressed in the lyric.

And then - and this is the killer, superb, skilful, jazzy chords with wonderful supporting licks and a lightness of touch which juxtaposes the melody and the lyric and forms the joke. Timing is perfect. It arrives as a fully formed punchline and leaves it to the listener to catch up.

I think this is brilliant, full of humour, skill and technique. I want to buy you a beer.  Thank you.

Brilliant! This is huge fun but it's also a great piece of music. The lyrics are fantastic, funny and yes a bit silly but there's more than just humour to this. I loved the "part time" line....

The playing is superb and the music is really enjoyable to listen to. A great little track, the rough mix sounds quite ready to me.... Bravo!

Many thanks to all for your great comments. I'm very surprised to have such lovely comments for a simple little song but I thank you all for listening.

Awwww  - I LOVE this.

I love the imagery - I have something with "shadow" imagery up my sleeve at the moment... the recording stalled a few years ago and I'll be resurrecting it soon, hopefully this year. I got the idea from JM Barrie (Peter Pan) ...

But once you get into thinking about your shadow, there's a whole LOAD of metaphors and wotnot about the human condition etc...

This one is perfect. Love the vocal performance, the guitar playing too.

All round YES! :)
