Here's a new collab. with Lorne that's hot off the press. This is a bit different because it's in the Americana genre. Credits: Lorne Reid - all music. Farrell Jackson - All vocals and lyric. I hope Bob Seger doesn't mind I used his name and borrowed a few lines for my chorus  8)
There I go
(V1) It was 2am as I drove home from a show. The band had been hired to play at the K-Arrow
It was a good night but for the pouring rain. Hauling the equipment was a real pain
The radio played some classic rock toons. The rain had stopped and I could see the moon
Then a Bob Seger song began to play. It hit home, the words Bob did sing
(Chorus)
"Here I am, On the road again. There I am, Up on the stage
Here I go, Playin' star again, There I go, Turn the page"
(V2) I had heard this song a hundred times before. But on this night, it struck me to the core
The words described this moment so well. On this dark highway, a little East of Oakdale.
I listened to the engine humming to the song. And I wondered how long I could keep on keepin' on.
(Chorus)
"Here I am, On the road again. There I am, Up on the stage
Here I go, Playin' star again, There I go, Turn the page" ...There I go....
(V3) I was questioning why I kept this crazy pace. For the love of music or chasin' fame?
I woke the next morning with the sun in my face. Shook the cobwebs from my head and retraced.
My thoughts from last night with the song in my head. Did the lyric say all that was to be said?
I decided not and thought about the next gig. I had to believe, there was something big.
That was 20 years ago, I'm still following that road.  Chasin' that dream and it never gets old.

Kudos to the "band"! Great song.  Am curious as to Lorne Reid? Did a search and didn't find the name in the membership.

The drums sound extra great (along with everything else) but wondering if live or canned?   8)

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Wonderful job by both of you! The music sounds really good - everything is well in balance. Fine job with lyrics and vocals by you - as always. This works!

Great work from you both again. Very polished, beautifully performed and produced. I really liked the chord changes and the harmonies over the "Here I am on the road again" part, that's very clever and works really well.

Nice lyrics as well, glad you are still chasing the dream. Sadly my dream died at least 30 years ago........  :D

Thanks all! Ken, Lorne is not a member of Songcrafters....yet. But I'm trying to get him to join up. The drums are not real but I've forgotten what program he uses. I'll ask him. Lorne and I have done several songs together (an album's worth). Most are posted in my personal jukebox. Thanks again for listening!

Real quality stuff. The chorus harmonies are fab, and I love those soaring, harmonised guitar parts. The momentum of the ending is fantastic too. Excellent.
