Puff the Magic Dragon with my 8 year old son

My 8 year old son, who plays piano, had sheet music for this so we recorded him playing piano (Casio keyboard), me playing electric guitar finger-picking, and both of us singing.  To highlight his piano playing I copied a section and inserted it as an "interlude" (vocals removed).

According to what I read online the song was made famous by the folk group Peter, Paul, and Mary.  Is has been for many years a famous folk song people sing "around the campfire". The story is that Peter Yarrow had a roommate Lenny Lipton, while both were Physics Majors at Cornell, who typed out the lyrics as a poem. Peter found it after Lenny left it in his typewriter and he later turned it into a song.

Amazon prime video also currently has a Peter, Paul, and Mary 25th reunion concert that I enjoyed watching recently.

Brilliant.  I always thought it was a really sad song but your son sings it with a real glint in his voice.  Can a voice have a glint?  I think so.

Aww, that's lovely. I remember listening to that often as a child and always got sad at the verse where "Dragons live forever but not so little boys" and Jackie Paper  came no more. Just looking at the lyrics again 50+ years later, I now realise he'd just grown up !
