Decided to go down my own distinctly folky path after losing myself in the bliss of the Kari and Ella collaboration. It's never too far from the surface to be fair.

Started with a rhythm loop I made from Thumbjam Tabla and Timpani that I put into Garageband. Then it was acoustic guitar, bass and vocals. The mandolin-sounding part is done on guitar this time.

The Masque of the Dead

Something is coming I can sense it in the twilight
like the acrid smoke of burning stubble in the fields
rabbits in the rain and all the filigree of hedgerows
listen with your heart now that everything is still

and i can hear the dead moving their fingers
i can hear the buds bursting on the tree
papier mache faces for the buried and the living
this masque of the dead - come and see

i can see the plague carts heading for the commom
planting their seeds amongst the gorse and the birch
iron-age barrows left exposed by the fire
listen with your heart like this landscape is a church

and i can hear the dead moving their fingers
i can hear the buds bursting on the tree
papier mache faces for the buried and the living
this masque of the dead - come and see

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Wasn't expecting this. Spooky and macabre. Love it! Clever arrangement and a wonderful twisted agrarian feel. The guitar parts work really well and the lyrics are as always fab. Different and quite wonderful. And yet it's still got a killer melody that I am humming already.

You evoked memories of Comus here - if you haven't heard of them, Google Comus First Utterance and see what you think......

Fine Greeny Monday song, again. I must find some tutorial videos how to make and add garage band rhythm tracks onto my songs. Although, it is quite easy to make those drum tracks on MBR or BR-80, the sound isn't so real drum sound...

Great songwriting and performance, the line "i can hear the buds bursting on the tree" is pure poetry.

Ps. Thank you for the kind words of the collab.

I think you have always made wonderful music in different genres. This one is also beautiful song with a exciting elements. Like that drum and I like those little parts where mandolin-sound turns to guitar.

Brilliant work and very original. It has a real sinister olde world feel and super work on that mandolin sounding guitar. Vincent Price keeps coming into my head as I listen!
