I've been doing some very different stuff quietly in the background. Some of it is plain bonkers - the madness of almost 3 months of isolation, I guess. I worry a bit about 'putting it out there', but I thought I'd let this one out of lockdown  ;D :o ::)

I can't categorise it. It's heavy on the Les Paul and Jazz Bass though, with a Garageband drum truck. Not my usual vocals  ;D

All recorded and mixed on the MBR.

Hardly Perennial (Neverbloom)

Everybody in the suburbs
just tending to their gardens
sprinkling in slow motion from their watering cans
they're trying to grow a postcard - a postcard of contentment
technicolour kodachrome
for the houses of the damned

buttoning their flies up in mock tudor boxes
praying to the rain god of suburbia
for rain, rain, rain
(trying to keep up with the Joneses)

Happiness is hardly
Oh it's hardly
Perennial

Neverbloom

stick a postage stamp
upon all that is unholy
and send it 2nd class to the fucking BBC
there's something brewing
and it's not a cup of rosie
stick it in a body bag
but make sure it's ID'd

And when the fall out warning comes
make sure you're drinking
so stay drunk all the time just in case
it ever comes around, round, round
(trying to keep up with the Joneses)

Happiness is hardly
Oh it's hardly

You should let these out of the cupboard more often.

Hard(l)y Perennial.  I mean - taking the piss out of your neighbours to this extent.. perfect.

Why is it that the southern accent sounds so much better in these spoken phrases?

And musically it's rocking - though a chunkier bass would be great...

Nah - its fab.
We are here on Earth to fart around. Don't let anybody tell you any different

This really what it's all about before I say anything about the vocal, that's a great track heavy driving and excellent.
As per usual totally Greeny with a slight Blur vibe, liked the spoken part's more, would have let it go a bit more cause your going totally in the right direction, too cool loved the listen!!

Well f*ckadoodledoo I bloomin' love this!!! Right up my riffy old street. Attitude, riffs, insouciance, what more could you ask for in a track. Just love the way you speak/sing the vocals, reminded me a lot of early Wire. The lyrics are fab as always but I really liked the more angular musical style here, you really created a nice sharp edge to this one. The guitars work really well together, the Les Paul sounds great - nice guitar break at 2:24.

Fab stuff. More like this please.

Like John, I can hear some Blur vibe, which is just positive thing :) . Really cool groove and killer chorus. My toe is tapping on the floor...

Love that riff, love those lyrics, you were worried about releasing this??? My god how many other gems have you got hidden away?? I have been messing with a sing with a similar vibe. This is right up my street it's everything I love in a song. I can see what you mean about categorising this song its got an older Ian Dury Vibe with a modernist Blur undertone...... In fact switch that round ;)

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic ??

Wowsers...

I can only echo what others have said - although, I'm guilty of it too - MORE!!! All the stuff you're not sure about, if it's finished, yeah post it...

I nearly didn't post my latest one once it was done, even thought that was the original intention.. I sat on it for a few days, and then I went "oh sod it".

Love this one, and it's still so obviously "Greeny" even though it feels different to you.
