That blues gave me a lot of trouble playing it!
I heard it by Robben Ford and I tried to play it in the spirit of Robben Ford's playing...but it was too difficult to reproduce his playing...I found on You Tube another version by Linus Olsson, who was kind enough to give me his chord grid....

Indeed it's a blues that has some particularities...
- Blues in 8 bars, in E flat
- jazzy chords with one chord every two beats  (Lyrics and chord on scrollable box)

I started the song by reproducing Linus Olsson's lead guitar...then after a few choruses I started to improvise (easier   ;))

played with Precision Bass HB and Telecaster HB, my favorite guitars of the moment

My mother told me, my father said it too
He said, "Son, fate's gonna catch right up with you
If you keep on drinking and gambling
Stayin' out all night, you're just living in a fool's paradise"
My mother told me, my father said it right
He said, "Son, you're gonna drop right out of sight
If you keep on drinking and gambling
Stayin' out all night, you're just living in a fool's paradise"
I have learned my lesson
Unlike some fools I've met
Things I've seen in this ole world
I'm not likely to forget
My mother told me, she sat right down and cried
She said, "Son, you're just committing suicide
If you keep on drinking and gambling
Stayin' out all night, you're just living in a fool's paradise"

PS first day post CONFINEMENT  in France , ...but beware of the second wave of the epidemic...

This is a jazz song just for my taste. Thanks for adding the chords; I'm gonna check the out, maybe I learn a few new chords.

So well sung and top class job on lead guitar as well!

Lovely work JP, great guitar sounds and very smooth playing. I really liked the lead work throughout, it's very tasteful and very nicely played. A nice vocal on top with very well balanced production made this a very enjoyable listen. And just looking at that list of jazz chords brought on the arthritis in my left hand..... :o

Thank you guys
It was difficult with the chords..

:o :o Now that's what I call jazz!

Greeny

Just the kind of mellow jazz-blues that goes nicely with my 11pm whisky nightcap. Well... I started at 6pm, but that's Lockdown for you. This is much more interesting and classy than the 'blues' that I play. And your vocals are very cool too. Very fine.

thank you Greeny,...I agree I've taken (since the beginning of the lockdown) the detestable (delicious) habit of tasting a nightcap whisky

Yeah, those jazz chords aren't common for me in the blues, either.
Of course, you have to listen to the live version by Robben Ford, whose style I unfortunately couldn't catch

so,my new trlrcaster blues teacher is...Robben Ford

Yeah lovely JP... it certainly has that feel of grab a little whiskey about it. Some classy playing there and you have created a lovely mood with this. Lovely stuff. If it's any consolation I tried to learn a Robben Ford solo many years ago and didn't get far! But always best to give tunes your own flavour, which you have done here marvelously.

Thank you Mike,

Yes, blues and whisky "are words that go very well together" as Macca would say (which I won't see live in Lyon as I had planned in June - I already had my ticket - fucking virus -).

I'm staying with Robben Ford and I'm trying out a great song called "Freedom".
Robben Ford seems to be a good person, he did a lot of guitar lessons on YT and his style is really interesting, very smooth, no high velocity demonstration phrasing, very imbued with blues and jazz...but under an easy appearance, in fact his phrasing is very difficult (for me) but if I can pick up 2 or 3 of his licks, it would be fine.
