So this one is an attempt at a tune with a positive message...

Mix is pot luck as usual...

I tried to do this all a bit faster than normal for a couple of reasons... first my back is a bit dodgy these days, so trying to spend less time seated at my computer, but also it kind suits the way I am trying to record at the moment, a bit more spontaneously, trying to keep a bit more of the spirit of the moment in the music if possible... (might be one or two dodgy notes as a result, but hopefully not too many!)

I remember when you said,
Those sad thoughts
Are gonna
Wreck you're head
You told me
Life is short we don't have much time
Each and every day
We're moving on up the line

And you said
Yeah you said
Good times are gonna come

You said
Don't be so hard on yourself
Take a look around
Think of somebody else
You told me
Sitting round all day won't get nothing done
Your life will be over
Before it's begun

And you said
Yeah you said
Good times are gonna come

I remember what you said
When you told me
What lay up ahead
You said
Those grey skies are gonna turn to blue
And those dark days
They'll be leaving us too

And you said
Yeah you said
Good times are gonna come
Good times are gonna come
Good times are gonna come

It does sound spontaneous, fresh and 'real'. Really nice work on the dual guitars, and the lead work is pure class.

Great song, and I wish I could believe you!

nice one Mike. reminds me a bit of Frank Black and his method of recording. I believe he teaches his band the song then the record staight to two track tape, that way keeping it raw and fresh and he can't tinker with it later.
Love it.

Love the way this is recorded. I love recording just like i did when i was using analogue equipment and  find that if i don't just record and leave it then im messing around with it for ages. I try to get the sound i want from the off so it hopefully limits the plugins that i use. That way they hopefully it shows in the mix and they all maintain that raw fresh feel to them just like this has.

Great song and great sound i think you definitely nailed it.

This is really good Mike. It's got a great groove and I absolutely love the chord structure and the vocals, I like the way you hold the "and you said" line for a repeat. That's really catchy. Guitar work is great, I didn't notice any obvious bum notes. The whole thing rocks along superbly, you definitely nailed this one!
