So whos up for a blind collaboration ?

I have a real basic idea for a song with some real basic lyrics and a bass line and i'm envisioning a really trippy psychedelic backing to go with it. Id like to mesh old 60's psychedelic blues vibes with modern day beats something like the chemical brothers did with that copy of the beatles backwards drum tracks they did with Noel Gallagher. I don't want an exact copy but that's the kind of style i'm hearing in my brain.

Ideally id like it to be a group collaboration and im just planting a seed and hopefully some of you are happy to jump in feet first and see what becomes of it.

Working Title is (Hippy Man) and i have got lyrics and a bass line, So im happy to have the following

Drums (Someone who can loop Drums, backwards sideways anyway you want)
Bass (Someone Using the bass hook again swirly throbbing whining thumping whatever you feel, as long as it meshes with the drums) Maybe Someone is talented enough to incorporate drums and bass?
Guitars, Sitars, Acoustics (Rhythm and lead) Again whatever you feel
Vocals (Singing the lyrics with whatever effects you please)

That's a real basic list and i want to make totally clear that nothing is set in stone im wide open and i hope there are a few of you that are too.

Anyway im starting to babble so let me know here if you are interested and ill post the seeds and then lets see what we can do

Quote from: hardlock on May 08, 2020, 03:05:28 PMDan, I played around last night with some of the effects in Audacity on a solo drum track I had.  No doubt too much for what you want to do but an example of what can be done.  Used phaser and wahwah.  Also tried the reverse effect but was too much as it didn't sound like drums anymore.   ::)

Hi Firstly apologies for not seeing this until today ????? Im really sorry you must've thought i was so rude :(

Thanks for the time and effort in this. i tried the drums up against the tracks that i have and i just couldn't get them to fit, even though they are the same bpm they were woefully out of time.

I now have a rough mix with peoples attributes but its missing some lead maybe a sitar or some crazy backwards guitaring or other psychedelic goodness if anyone is up for this please let me know and ill send you the rough mix. I can send over the wavs but there's 13 in all and its a nightmare to get the levels so felt an mp3 of the rough mix would do someone to do some lead and send me back the wav and ill mix it in

Thanks to everyone that has collaborated so far and you may hear your work in the mix but if you dont thank you anyway for the time you spent collaborating for this project :)

Danny

(Footnote) I may actually get someone or a few (If enough are up for it) to mix the track adding whatever psychedelic effects they want to really get this track into the stratosphere :)

Drop your name here or pm me :)

I've got an almost completed collaboration based on the original tracks you sent me.  Will be glad to add others for your approval. I'm glad you mentioned sitar as I was just experimenting with it last night.  8)

Heard the final submission and it's quite nice - like the wah and feel you got.  Here's my completed track for comparison only but never heard back so maybe you didn't get it?  Or maybe I didn't understand the concept of a "blind" collaboration? Anyway, fun project and enjoyed playing with it.

I said go for it and thought you would let me know when and what you had done either here or via pm but I didn't hear so thought something must've come up. I like the arrangement of your version and there's plenty going on in there. I like it it's completely different to anything I could've imagined. It shows that you are a very talented musician.

Thanks for the good words!

I'm not big on PMs as I seem to miss a lot of them.

I did email my version to you back on the 13th so might want to check for it just for future contact. It was sent to the "..toybox.." address.

Cheers!
