Brand new.  Just finished it today.  A bit of a heavy.  Depressing but it captures a mood.  This Covid isolation crap is starting to get to me and it's starting to show, I guess.
Hypothetical.  Not written about anybody in particular, but could apply to a few I've known over the years.  Created in Cakewalk.

Sent you flowers on your birthday
Gave you a call to wish you well
Took to notice there's something changing
that your demeanor can't disguise

Stopped by to see you in your lonely room
I took extra care not to make you feel bad
It seems that nothing I do will please you
You're growing colder. It's so sad

Time goes on and life goes by
and you don't want to talk
Try to imagine how it seems
Have you lost your mind?

Wasting time. Breakin' all the rules
Just hangin' round doesn't make it worthwhile
There is a reason why you think such old school
when being fair is not your style
All good intentions are beguiled

I sent you flowers on your birthday
I gave you a call to wish you well
Might just as well have sent you poison
You have no soul that I can tell.

Redler

Liked the melanchol atmosphere of lyrics, it fits perfectly to the music. Everything is on the right place with instrumentation; strings, flute, drums...

You've written and performed really fine piece of music, so I'm on my second listening while having my morning coffee.
Well done, John!

Alot of the stuff coming on is definitely coming from a locked in mindset.
The lyrics say it all.
Piano sets the mood nicely.
Well done

This is a sad yet very beautiful song John. The lyric tells a lonely story of isolation. As Redler mentioned your melody is very melancholy but you sing it beautifully. The music backs up your vocals with excellence. The whole song sounds so professionally done. Nice songwriting!

Like the flavor of complexity, a seemingly usual trait in your music. Good stuff..!!

If you swim against the tide long enough, it turns and becomes momentum.........

Hook

Wonderful tune, has a Billy Joelish vibe to me. Nicely done.
Rock on!

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Greeny

You are one hell of a songwriter. The chords, melodies and arrangements you weave are absolutely beautiful. And you never take the easy route - these are complicated songs.

Love the melancholic edge to this. Could be a lost Carpenters classic.

Thanks Redler, Kenny Mac, Farrell, Drumbum, Hook & Greeny.

I appreciate your listening and encouragement.

Wonderful song! Sounds like some classic from good old days. Sad but really lovely and well made. Beautiful vocals!
