Hi all,

I was jamming on my acoustic this morning and came up with a clean riff [recorded on electric]. Decided to solo a little bit over the top of it [Vai/Satch style]. There are a couple of bum notes in there, but I didn't want to record the whole thing again. There's a harmonic phrase which is repeated throughout the whole thing, EBow was used to produce this. It's really hard using it with active pickups!

Apologies for levels and such. I've not mastered that part of my BR!

Any feedback welcome.

Thanks for listening.

Rockatron, the guitar you're referring to is the EBow part. Wonderful little gadgets. Ever sustaining notes and harmonics. Not quite mastered the use of the other effects yet. I find it difficult to use with active pickups, like the EMG81 in the bridge.

Here's the newer version. I made the 2nd guitar part quieter. And mucked around with the volume levels a little. I think it sounds better.

Great job man!  I like your playing! Can't wait for actually starting to record stuff.  Was that finger picking in the background there?  I'll listen to your next post.. Cheers!

There's some great playing here! The mixing and production would really leap out if you panned some of those layers left / right. Give it a go and see how it sounds. All you need to do is press 'track 2' from the main screen, then scroll right to hit the panning levels (after volume). You certainly have the chops, so I guess we're going to hear some great stuff from you!

Excellent post!! I like your playing style - Look forward to more.

Agree that panning and levels is the next path to travel. You seem to have the playing part down - wish I did!! :D

See you around,

Mark

Hi Russ - nice one, that does sound better than the first mix...

We can hear more of your playing now... :)

But like others are saying - panning is the way to go. You will be amazed at the effect it has....

The ebow sounds killer, probably really hard to mix on the br I would imagine... especially with active pickups and the levels going all over the place.
