Hi all, hope you are all still well. Here's a song for all those who have ever worked in a call centre. It's horrible. I worked in one while waiting for a job I was more suited for to come along. Hope you enjoy.
Fender electro acoustic and precision bass, Rickenbacker 12 string. GarageBand for everything else.

Walking down this road again
It's not cold but it looks like rain
Catch the tube for a crowded ride
I get to work and I go inside

Get a coffee and look around
I find my desk and I sit down
I get a message to see the boss
My coffee's cold but it aint no loss

Secretary says go right in
He's expecting you and he looks grim
Son you gotta change your tune
Or you'll be looking for a new job soon

Yes sir, no sir three bags full
I'd do anything for you
God I'm such a hypocrite
"Cos I don't really care a bit

Instrumental

Back to my desk again
Phone is ringing like it's insane
I pick it up and put it down
And watch the caller go round and round

Thought that I was such a star
When I left school I was going far
Change the world be a millionaire
I guess the world just didn't care

Time to go and I feel down
I need a drink to wash it down
My money's scarce but that's nothing new
I guess I've got call centre blues

Great storytelling, and carries the weight and melancholy of the subject matter really well. Excellent production too.

Never worked in a call centre, but did man the phones for children in need once. It was hard work!

Excellent job, Willie! Melanchol and beautiful, works nicely!

Love the song, Willie - a real slice of life, and among your very best. And love that Ricky, of course. You do know how to bring the jangle.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Really enjoyed this Willie, the lyrics are great, a really good subject for a song. Great vocals and instrumentation as always, very well put together and a really enjoyable listen.

Kind of sums up my life in a way. I started out wanting to make it in a band and tried very hard (but failed, obviously!). I was fortunate to end up in a career that I did find interesting and enjoyable, but at times I was working in a "high end" call centre. It did get quite hard at times (hence the early retirement!).
