Spent some time with this tune before I recorded it. Worked on it over the last week finished this morning. I think it's bluesy enough to qualify as a double fester.
the drums are me playing my cocktail kit & the sax solo is my EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument). I find the tributes the most challenging covers to do, I hope I did this justice. It's a great song you can hear here https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=29173

Watcha Gonna Do?
written by Mike_S
performed by Hook
There's a lady in a dark room,
She hasn't got a friend
There's no best wishes
To her they're gonna send

There's an old grey dog
They kicked him out the door
He doesn't understand
They don't want him anymore

There's young man crying
He thinks he's lost his mind
Nobody's gonna help him
Cause it isn't his time

What you gonna do?
This time of year
What you gonna do?

There's a child without a home
Begging on the street
There's a woman shootin' up
If you care to see it

There's an old man dying
And he's gonna die alone
But he might have made it
If anyone had known

There's a family moving out
They're putting up a sign
They don't have a home now
Just a sign of the times

What you gonna do?
This time of year
What you gonna do?

Damn... WTF... I am just bowled over by what you have done with my song Hook. You have taken the tune and brought it to life completely. For whatever reason I felt mine was a bit unfinished anyway so this is so cool. I am feeling the passion in the song totally. Have to say, as well as your vocals, that Sax is the X-factor now. It's bringing an added melancholy to the tune. Maybe something like how Lou Reed might have imagined doing it!

So pleased... thank you!

Hook a fine cover of a fine song! Wow on the vox....you did real good. The sax was a cool addition. I totally get the difficulty of covering a songcrafter's song but you seem to do it with ease. Well done Hook (and well done Mike S  with the songwriting)!

Where do I start?

Playing and recording is superb. Its all together, solid and singular, really nice and tight. I dig the EWI  (I need one - off to post some GAS), the arrangement is great, it just works beautifully.

However, the absolute stand-out, awesome, monster job is your fabulous vocal. Its made a really great track something special indeed.

You've done an amazing job on this song, Hook, its fantastic.

Bravo Hook, everything is excellent! I particularly like the vocal performance and especially the saxophone (I looked on the internet what was the EWI AKAI it's impressive the possibilities of this instrument!).

and at the beginning very beautiful song of Mike S (I listened well on his version)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Holy cow. This is awesome. You knocked that vocal right out the park.  Beautifully done!

Brilliant version indeed. It's performed with such great feeling, especially the vox, and I loved the EWI, very clever.
