What Is It With You by Jemima's Kite

I started this one yesterday morning as a solo project on my macbook, lots of telecaster copy, about 7 or 8 tracks, a few soft synths, two drum tracks, vocals etc. by early evening my ears were completely frazzed trying to mix and master all the various parts. So i sent a rough mix to Mike and Tim for some feedback. Gradually the mix fell into place and around 2am Mike sent me some tasty bass to replace my inadequate try out. So around 3am we suggested it could become a Jemima's Kite track. So then off to bed and Tim added some lead guitar and backing vocals first thing Sunday morning. My lead vocal track had a few clicks which Mike kindly tidied up. Final mix fell together at about 7.30pm today. However it's a big bugger over 7 minutes long, so i had to shrink the mp3 quality to get it to fit here.

Nice sound guys. Bass and lead sound great, and the two vocals work very well. It's hard to believe that the song was so quickly done, the laid back sound and recording sound like you've been at it for months!

Loving this one, a nice unexpected treat! A dreamy quality with a really nice groove (the bass works really well with the drums) and I love the gently building guitar work from Tim. It hangs together very well indeed, very creative of you all to get this done in this way and so quickly. Really enjoyable, great to see the Kite back together again.

This all works together very comfortably and makes it an enjoyable listen.  An impressively substantial bass sound, emotional vocals and tastefully added guitars. Nice work guys!

Floats along the road wonderfully. Deeper lyrically than I'm willing to allow this morning, the groove has overtaken me.

this is really amazing - both hypnotic and dramatic, that seem in contradiction, but they're there! I love a lot the sound of it, the vocals, lyrics and how the whole song is organized. Really wonderful, and moving in its own way, with that 'coming from space' and surrounding sound.

This was the shortest over 7 minutes of my life, ever. It took me right from the start. Relaxing and a bit psych piece of music!
