This is a bit of a rushed mix of a little piece I knocked up.  I had to rush it as I am taking my PC into a tech to have a larger SSD and more RAM installed and updating to Windows 10 (clean install).  I can then look forward to days of downloading and re-installing software, libraries, templates etc, so I thought I would crack off a quickie (as they say!) in case it takes longer than anticipated.

The Lydiard Arms is a hotel in Swindon where I stayed for ages while doing a bit of work a while ago.  The hotel is nothing special but I ran out of ideas for song titles and there is a bit of Lydian mode going on here.

All recorded in Studio One 4 Pro using Arturia soft synths and Spitfire Audio orchestral samples.  Drums are a mixture of multi-track drum loops and bits I  "played" using one shot hits in impact and an Atom pad controller.

Listening to it again I think it is a bit bass heavy and could do with having the bottom end rolled back a bit. I will almost certainly remix it at some point - assuming my techy bloke doesn't totally destroy my computer!

Some reason I really get the movie theme feel with this one sounds good

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Flash Harry

Great!

Not bass heavy at all (Ask Ferryman)

beautifully constructed and hit.

I love it Paul

You are a true pro at this style Paul! A lot of moving parts and change ups but you've made them all blend together and flow perfectly. For what it's worth, it doesn't sound bass heavy to my ears.

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Have to agree with Farrell - you have joined up all these changes in tempo and feel so well, very professional. A bit of George Martin and foursome working going on. Nice one. On a second listen.

Redler

Very creative and unique! Nice mix of several genres.

Enjoyable listening!

Ah the delights of Swindon. You make it sound musically much more interesting than it really is......

This is great fun, intriguing, wacky, clever and with a few dollops of cheese here and there. Very well put together with lots of clever changes that you handle very nicely. And an ear-worm of a melody line and excellent synth/percussion arrangements.

Personally I liked the bass balance. Definitely not too much overall (but like Flash says I may be biased....), if you are hearing a bit of boominess maybe try some targetted eq cuts, but don't wind it back too much.

Hook

Driving and at stoplight...so fucking cool!!!!
Rock on!

I meant to comment on this earlier - I love how it segues into the slower section, and then works its way back up. Lots of fine details that keep it interesting to the listener. I enjoyed it very much!

I love the name for some reason. Very cool song too... really quirky very proggy, little nods to "Yes" in there maybe... but only slightly, it really goes off onto it's own really original journey. Some great sounds... very creative Paul.

Good luck with the PC!
