Lost in 2019 Festival submission...

Jake Black the lead singer of Alabama died on May 21st 2019... R.I.P. Jake

I found it difficult to find somebody lost in 2019 that I was able to do a cover of. This one is essentially pretty simple though, but Jake and Alabama 3 made it pretty cool with some lovely touches and sounds not normally associated with the blues genre... sometimes adding techno and rap into some of their tunes.

This one had a rap section, but that wasn't gonna sound good from me so I left that bit out.

She don't get up till the sun goes down
She don't come down till the sun comes up
She drinks her coffee from a broken cup
In her Jackie O sunglasses

She didn't get to bed till 10am
When the whiskey ran out
She had enough of her friends
Fussin' and fighting she reminded them
She hadn't slept for 100 hours

Sad-eyed lady of the lowlife come on
And burn a while with me
Put the high life on the bonfire
Lets go steal some gasoline

She got hot in the heat on the cemetery wall
When the preacher tried to kiss her
She knew the light would burn bright again
She'd seen the angels in the disco

Ain't no-one gonna tell her when the fight's gonna end
And the bells a-gonna ring
And  She'll be swinging when the whole world ends
Looking for another tomorrow

Sad-eyed lady of the lowlife come on
And burn a while with me
Put the high life on the bonfire
Lets go steal some gasoline

Excellent! Well-played, great vocals, and very professional sounding production. Great arrangement too.

I'm not familiar with the original but I assume the title is a twist on Bob Dylan's "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" from Blonde on Blonde (1966).

Your productions just keep getting better and better Mike! I don't know this song or the band but your vocals are excellent. And the guitar tone and playing are mighty fine. Well done!

:) :) :)...it seems to me that we must have tastes (or rather non-tastes) in common.
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Don't know the original but I really enjoyed this Mike. Great guitar work and really sharp guitar sounds, the solo work in particular cuts nicely through the mix. Vocals are great as well, really well performed.

As I don't know the original, I didn't miss the rap. Always best to play to your strengths!
