the photos and video of the clip are from my last stay in this island, in September.

Claude Nougaro  was a French songwriter and singer.

Another lovely track JP. I really liked the bass on this one (in addition to everything else of course....). You created a really nice overall feel to this one. Glad you didn't fall off your bike filming the video!

The translation of the lyrics made me smile. There is some lovely wordplay going on in the French original which is rather lost in translation into English

Claude Nougaro was a great musician, composer, but also a great poet.
 The poet gives himself a power of invention, of verbal creation: by exploiting all the resources of language, he invents a new language where words have more meaning and density than in their usual use.  (example...for you my Miss Earth Mystery word play...)
Poetry gives such a place to language that it can do without narration, ideas, messages to be transmitted; it is the beauty and power of suggestion of words that is more important than their primary meaning. (example "...on the foam carpet of the red beach, suddenly I push you...")
 Within the verse itself, the poet can work on the musicality of the words by forming assonances (vocal repetitions) or alliterations (consonant repetitions).
In Gainsbourg's Javanese song, there is an incredible accumulation of assonances and alliterations. These processes often allow the creation of an imitative harmony: the sonorities themselves help to express the meaning of the poem.
(for example "come rain or come shine , as a queen or as a chain").
