I took a line from one of ORH's comments to "Je Suis Charlie" and used it for the inspiration, title, and opening line for this song.
I passed it to James and he added his vocal magic plus some synth and percussion. THANK YOU James!

Nutters With Guns

I've written too many songs   about nutters with guns.
Now things are worse   and I can't write one.
If guns were butter   and bullets were water
We'd have enough   to feed each other.

That's all I can say   in my own simple way.
I bow my head and pray   for a peaceful day.

So I'll write songs   about life and love
And hope we find guidance    from above.
I don't care if it's from   God or the stars
We must learn to live   with who  are.

Thanks so much Geo for letting me fiddle with this.

George sent me an mp3 of the completed song with him singing and playing the national. He really should let you guys hear it, it's wonderful and basically I copied his melody and sang maybe an octave higher.

Before I did that I added some droning layered synths for some ambience and played the drums using my Korg Nanokey (a drummer I am Not  ). I sent George a version of that with his National thinking he would sing, but in the meantime I had a wee go. But would love to hear George redo the vocals.

Excellent Collab, great lyrics and slide too. Some cool additions from ORH, but the vocal brings it home, really enjoyed the listen, great Collab, guys, loved it!!

This is superb. Brilliant dobro playing, I really enjoyed the slide work. Jim's lyrics are excellent and the vocals fit so well into this track. The percussion/synth additions are very subtle and really add to the feel of the track. A really enjoyable listen, hopefully the two of you will continue working together.

A poignant and timely message, with some fantastic slide work. Sounds to me like it could be a lost 'Beggar's Banquet' track.
