March of the Albions - a Chapperz original

I picked up a couple of orchestral sample libraries from Spitfire Audio in the black Friday sales. The first one is one of their "best sellers" called Albion so I called this "March of the Albions."  It's kind-of a march if you can allow the occasional bar of 5/4.  Albion is a great library but doesn't have any solo instruments - only ensembles - so I negotiated with the wife and got the Spitfire solo strings library as well over Christmas.

This tune I produced since Boxing Day.  I quite like it.

How do you do this kind of thing? Do you just play basic parts on a keyboard to produce a midi track to which you then add the samples, or do you "play" the samples through a midi keyboard and record them in the normal manner? Whichever way you do it, a career in sound track composition beckons.....
