since its creation in 1939 by Judy Garland where she sings it in the film The Wizard of OZ, this song from Harburg and Arlen has been covered by a large number of singers and musicians
I (re) discovered it by the instrumental guitar version of our friend Alex (Groundy) on Y C

Also, with his agreement  ;), I put the first bars of his version in introduction to my version: I just had to raise the tonality by 2 tons to be connected.
.. thank you Alex (and I recommend you to listen to his beautiful version that I had brought up in BUMP not long ago

To come back to my version, it is very strongly copied from the "live" version of Clapton (version I love) that you can find on YT (performed during Clapton's 2001 World Tour.)

Among my favorite versions that have served as tutors I can mention:
Ella Fitzgerald's version
Sarah Vaughan's version
the wonderful version with Uke of Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo?ole to see absolutely:

...and so many others, but my favorite is Clapton's.

in my material version and method

for singing use of the VST Plug ins Waves CLA Vocal and AR TG Mastering
Delay Reaper in automation mode and Lush reverb of Reaper
for the Epiphone Les paul guitar, for the chords used by Claptons I might put them if I have the patience on a video on You tube
for instrumental backtracking
organ, bass, Piano, Strings are from BIAB

thank you for listening guys

Nice way to start the day. Very nice rendition. Those brushes and guitar fills are perfect. Kudos to Alex as well.

Lovely version JP, a good way to get in the Christmas spirit. You handled the vocals very well, as they do get a bit into the higher registers. As always, lovely jazzy guitar playing and overall a nice laid back feel. Bravo!

Wow, 2 tons? Did Alex do the "heavy" version........ ;D ;)

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Well done all the way around JP! Not an easy song to sing and you've done well with it .

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

I enjoyed it very much.  Love Clapton and he constantly surprises me when I discover an unexpected cover he has done.

I also see you have discovered the "secret sauce" I've been using - CLA vocals plugin.  For me it was a major discovery to improve my vocal mixing.

For your song, I think your singing is so good, I would raise the vocal level in this mix maybe by 2 or 3 dB?

Merci Desofree, I also think that Waves' CLA Plug ins is fantastic!

Thanks for the technical advice (increase voice by 2 or 3 Db...), there are not enough of them on SC, I find
