So lets talk about one of my favorite bands/projects. This Mortal Coil was a music collective led by Ivo Watts-Russell, founder of the British record label 4AD. It was a collection of musicians from the label making guest appearances and creating this amazing, orchestral, ambient music that I totally fell in love with as a teenager. All 3 of their albums are incredible and live in my top 10 album list. This is from the last album Blood and is a cover of a Chris Bell song. It was sung by Kim Deal (of The Pixies) and Tanya Donelly, whom she started The Breeders with and is such a wonderful recording.
Done last night on the couch with my Archtop Tenor uke, the Br80 & my Ipad for GarageBand, animoog & ThumbJam. Here is my attempt at a wonderful song...
1 arpeggio Uke (stereo)
1 rhythm uke
1 drums-GB(stereo)
1 bowed bass-TJ
1 viola-TJ
1 animoog app (stereo)
1 lead vocal (stereo)
1 harmony vocal (stereo)
1 bridge vocal

Amazing take of a beautiful song! Not familiar with the original and listened to This Mortal Coil version, too (because Kim Deal ;) ) .

Everything has been put well together on your recording. Top class job!

Beautiful job on this Chris Bell classic, Hook. Really enjoyed that synth part with the uke arpeggios, and how the dynamics ramp up when the drums kick in. Great vocals too, right up into those upper registers!

I'm not familiar with This Mortal Coil's version, but I love Kim Deal's voice and also the lovely and talented Tanya Donnelly. Going to check that out next.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

bravo Hook, excellent performance...I really like the sound of the "instrument" in the intro what is it? (the 2nd instrument arpeggio uke? )

The voice the mixing the choice of instruments everything is good

Uh... think it's possible to use thumbjam with a PC?
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Don't know the original, I'm embarrassed to say, 4AD music was right up my street in the early 80's.

Great performance though, loving the falsetto
