...I had a lot of fun doing it

It's a song by a French yéyé group (1962, the advent of the twist...)
The yéyé is a musical movement that emerged in the early 1960s. The expression is used in France and Quebec and generally refers to music or song adapted from an Anglo-Saxon success, then very popular with the Baby Boomer youth born after the Second World War.

this song was then covered in the Manouche style by the great French guitarist (Django Reinhard's cousin): Tchavolo Schmitt

I used
- a kazoo,
- a magnificent Gibson UB 1 banjolele from the 1920s (bought by my son-in-law on the internet) see photo
- a handmade megaphone made with a bottle of milk!
- an old "Gramophone" phono for the crackling at the beginning
- Uke bass, played by my son of law, Guillaume
- brushes on washboard
- Dobro and guitar

french lyrics and translation
Oublie-moi

translation
Forget about me
I'm not a boy for you.
And if your heart ever gets attached to me
You'll suffer, han, han, han

Han, forget about me.
For a kiss we picked up
I have no right to ruin your life
It's a madness, han han han han han

You know, I'm leaving at random.
I only know one night's dreams
The next day, without knowing where I'm going,
I'm going back to my freedom

I'm in Lyon but I'm going back to Savoy on Thursday... and I'll make a video to show you this happy material :)

Brilliant JP - it sounds like something from the 1920's. Great to hear a kazoo and wash board again - brought a smile to my face. T'es fou !  ;D

Very nice.  I like the fact that you used organic, authentic methods to achieve the vintage sound.  I have read about plugins that can process the sound to make it sound like a scratchy record, etc.  But you did it a natural way.

QuoteBut you did it a natural way.
...to the truth not entirely, I tinkered with an acoustic megaphone with a bottle of milk because I didn't have a real bronze megaphone from the 20's, but I still processed the sound in reaper with an unstable plug by simply cutting the low frequencies and high frequencies and making a dent in the medium
for the cracking of old LPs scratching there are lots of Wave files on the Net ;)

this afternoon I make the video to show the washboard, uke bass, megaphone ,, kazoo, authentic banjolele gibson of the 20's :)
