Quote from: my idol is Jahia on September 12, 2019, 05:12:07 AMHello all guys

I posted here a new version of dear corine...
...I left the original file at the top of the message so you could give me your opinion by comparing the two mixes

I know I'm a newbie and my ears aren't as refined as others (in the sense I'm not really sure what I'm listening for), but right off the bat I liked the first version better as the overall volume worked for me.   Listening to the second version again lowering the volume, helped increase my enjoyment and then I really couldn't tell any difference between the two.  (As far as any instruments standing out more over the vocals...)

I loved this song and you've inspired me to look up the artist now.  Thank you!

What a wonderful way to spend a family vacation; making music together!!   !@014

Thank you, again, for sharing!

Thnak you Alex,

thanks Romidon for your opinion,

in fact there is little difference between the two versions it is simply that I found that the overall volume was too low (compared to the second recording of the same session (Steal your Heart away from Fleetwood Mac) I could not increase the sound of voices that was already at the cleat without going into the red (distortion)
This little plug in (free) allowed me to do it

here is the (live) version of Dear Corinne by Ferraby Lionheart that inspired us

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Here is my take no that it means anything I much preferred the 2nd version as the vocals were cleaned up and brought more to the front and being compressed allow this to happen through the increase in volume. Exactly what a compressor should do. The problem with over usage of a compressor is at some point a over compressed song will start pumping which instead of compressing all the signal to a even low level it will be compressed so much the sound will start getting too low and high in spots and sound like it is pumping.  As far as the performance and playing can only say outstanding to all involved.  bravo

thank you Tim, good analysis, and which suits me :)
I will try again this DC1A3 compressor from Kanglhem (free)
I like it because there are only two settings to make, so very intuitive
