Hello friends of SC, it is getting colder in France (heat wave) and especially in my small home studio under the roof where the temperature was between 35 and 39 ° Celsius!

...so I'm starting to play a little bit more.

"After You've Gone" is a 1918 popular song composed by Turner Layton with lyrics by Henry Creamer.

it's a new version in which I tried to reproduce the sound of the microphones of the radio stations and recording studio of the 20-30 years
Equalization by cutting the low and high frequencies plus noise of old 78 rpm LPs

All this to apply it in a cover of an "old" song from the 60s that I will soon do ( "forget me" a song from the 1962 "black socks group" but in a version arranged by Tchavollo Schmit who is in France a great gypsy guitarist, disciple of Django Reinhart

I play guitars and dobro , others instruments bass, piano, drums are by BIAB

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Glad your making music again. This is a marvelous cover, I really enjoy it alot. That vocal sound (30s microphone) is really cool and I love the 78rpm crackle. My only suggestion would be bring the vocal up and the crackle down. The vocal is so good but too hard to hear and the crackle really feels in front of everything.  Thats just me nit pickin, I love this!
Rock on!

Great performance! You've reached the authentic vintage tone (78 rpm), it really works!

Nice one!

thank you Hook, I'll take your suggestion into consideration.

I regret that there are no further suggestions and advice on SC. Maybe we don't dare criticize too much. Praise is easier than criticism, but positive criticism is constructive, and is that not one of SC's goals?

Here I rectified the file according to Mr. Hook's recommendation
- by increasing the volume of the voice
I also enhanced the volume of Dobro's solo which I particularly well succeeded, I find (self congratulation  ;D)

I have attached the equalization setting and the internet address of the old microssillon sound effect wave file as an attached document

What a really great idea. I like this style of music from this era and you did a really nice version of this song. The sound effects and vocal eq are very nice touches, well done.

Very cool! I liked this song a lot, and making a recording that sounds period-authentic is an idea I've considered doing myself (but haven't, yet).

Well done, JP!
