I love the line '...Has it got the better of you yet?', but I think it would be even more impactive if I fully understood the line before it.. 

...Romidon... just on that one line you couldn't make out... that is...

"Does it rear it's ugly head on you"!

Thank you for the fill-in, Mike.  (I KNEW I heard the word 'ugly' in there, but as I misheard 'rear it's' for 'really' and couldn't make out the other words, I couldn't make sense of it.  Now I can! In fact the whole phrase works much better, now.  ) 
 
As a songwriter, the lyrics are the one thing I really pay attention to in songs.  And I really liked the lyrics to this song.  As I already stated:

That the experiences of just living life are going to leave little ghosts that could have lingering effects on our lives, is a haunting ( ) thought.

The beauty of writing a song like this is it actually doesn't fit neatly into a box and is open to different interpretations; that's just mine.
(But I hope it comes somewhat close to what you were thinking..  )
