If I Laugh
Recorded 100 percent on MBR.
Ted: kabosy, bass, vocals

The original song is an open E tuning. I recorded this with my Kabosy, which is an open G tuning. So I kind of modulated up for some parts, and way down for other parts.

These lyrics sound like a stalker trying to quit stalking someone, but I don't think that's what Yusuf was going for.

Great song and so well recorded/performed. Superb job, Ted!

Had to check out Kabosy via Wikipedia. It has really nice and warm sound.

I made this video yesterday for you and anyone else interested in seeing my kabosy. I had to cut out a bunch, because my 7-year-old videographer didn't realize that her fidgety sounds would be picked up on the video.

The other kabosy song I demo for a few seconds is Bolobolo Woman (which was recorded on an even cheaper kabosy).

Thanks for the comments.

I'm really dissatisfied with the vocals on this song. I'm equally tired of fidgeting with the song, which took way more time to do than I had anticipated. If anyone would like to redo the vocals, I'll be happy to send a vocal-free version.

Mesmerising actually,I sat outside the nursery that my grandson is in waiting to collect him and had this on blue tooth in my car and it sounded amazing on the speakers.

Really quite interesting - thanks for walking us through the instrument in the video, Ted. Please tell your videographer she did a great job - it was very cohesive after your (unobtrusive) edits. I was going to ask previously if the kabosy was open-tuned, so glad you talked about that. And those partial frets are just crazy cool!

Personally, I thought your vocals on the song sounded great but I understand what it's like to feel too invested in a project and not quite happy with one or another part.
