Love the way you give songs your own spin - Turned out nice again !! George Formby was born in my home town, Wigan, so I was brought up listening to his music and watching his films. He has a statue in the Grand Arcade in Wigan.

My mum's met George Formby - she said he was a throughly horrid man - used to tell his fans to f*ck off!

Beautifully done - I prefer this arrangement to old George's (although I am also a fan).

I shouldn't be too surprised to read this - I suppose fame can do that to a person. Pity, though - he seems so likeable in nearly all of his films. His mother, on the other hand...

It's all a stage persona isn't it. Mum said George and his wife were exceedingly stuck up and he told my mum (who was about 6 at the time and used to live near the film studios) and a bunch of kids she was with to f*ck off. Apparently Granny Hammersmith was all ready to go and deck him!

Interesting little insight to Mr. Formby. Not good to hear that as I am sure a lot of kids were fans. In fact I remember enjoying his songs when I was little. I think it happens a good bit actually that famous people a very different to what we imagine. My Dad told me Val Doonican was not the nicest bloke in real life (he did some show with him a long time ago).

Lovely version Hilary.... really well interpreted.
