Have struggled with my mojo of late. First song in ages, and it was like getting blood from a stone doing it. Last week i had a wee riff going on my acoustic and created a drum track to suit the song. That took a couple of days using garage band and two separate drum tracks playing different styles and kits. I then recorded the drum track to a stereo track on my br800.
Once that was done, the next day i recorded 4 separate guitar tracks using my HB tele. The next day i used my ipad for the bass track and two synth tracks as i didn't have access to my bass guitar or juno di. Once that was done i bounced the tracks using cheap speakers as monitors.I then recorded two vocals whilst loaded with the cold and mastered with cheap speakers. the result was a mess.
So i then remixed all the tracks except the vocals, this time using headphones as monitors. after a couple of bounces i had a better mix for a backing track to sing to.
However that too was a struggle. i tried using my microbr as a mic but nothing worked. so i ended up recording two vocal tracks using a Sennheisser e818sII, recording the vocals dry with no effects.I then finally mastered everything and this came out the other end.

Anyroad up, it is what it is.

Nice entry to the fest! Simple backer, but it works well. Excellent job with vocals.

Clear and nice sounding HB tele! I'm on my second listening..

Yes, plain and good. The risk with this fest is to make someway too sad songs, and by this point of view this one is a surprise.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Sounds fine to my ears. Drums add a bit of chill atmosphere, along with those synthy swirls. An interesting contrast with the lyrics and I can identify when travelling (mostly for work these days).

I thought this fest was going to flop, which I was rather perturbed about, since I suggested it, however, this is a gem

I love the simplicity, the drum track is great, guitars are great, vocal is superb. It's lovely.

Like Alfredo said, I thought this would bring out the melancholy, this track is really quite uplifting.

Bravo mon vieux

Some fine words and music James. You went through a lot to get this to sound so cohesive...well done with that! Your vocals are top notch as well. A good song!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Good first song of the fest. It has a cool rhythm too it, a vibe that isn't too busy or heavy that I think lends itself to the vocal delivery and melody. Here's to more Strange Land entries.
