If, like me, you were in Woodstock in 1969, well, no, you wouldn't have heard that CSNY song! "Carry on" was not part of the band's set at the festival.
It was the title 1 on side A of the disc "Déja vu", from the same year
On the other hand, they played it at the re-release of the Woodstock Festival in 1994

In 1969, there I discovered this so particular open tuning used by the DDDDAD

I challenged myself to do this song with the voices and tuning of the guitar strumming
very difficult for me without the vocal score and with my poor singing skills

But hey, here's the first part of the song, part 2 is still to be done.

It took me a while but I read on wikipedia that it took 800 hours of recording for CSNY to make the "deja vu" record

PS,No, I wasn't at Woodstock in 1969. fake news.😉

thank you guys for listening

JP, this song is a massive undertaking to say the least but you have all the parts in there. You have absolutely caught the vibe with the acoustic and lead guitars, bass, drums and lead vocal. I think with the harmony vocals, a tighter mix with some additional doubling and effects, would bring more fullness to them...... but I'm definitely impressed and I look forward to part 2! I wasn't at Woodstock either in 1969 but I saw the first release of the documentary in 1970. Not as good as being there in person but still cool. I remember being blown away by Ten Years After's (Alvin Lee) "I'm Going Home". It was smokin'!!!!!

 Thank you, Farrell.

ouch! I forgot the performance of Ten Years After
and his great singer-guitarist Alvin Lee
I looked at YT! : impressive ((strongly advised to review this video)) I probably won't risk doing a cover of "I'm goin home"! Not the level neither vocal, nor guitaristic rock ;)

Thanks for the encouragement to do part 2 is a big job indeed.

Very good JP - love the guitars and it sounds very 60's. I, too, wasn't at Woodstock  ;)

So, we can start a club of "those who weren't in Woodstock, but who would have liked to be there" :) :) :)

...................., but, I have a surprise for you for a next topic cover:

"where was I in 1965, where would you have liked to be? ;D

excellent Pete and Mike
...I would also like a tee shirt "I wasn't in woodstock in August 1969... (but I would have liked to be there)"

Well, at that time (August 69 I passed my physiotherapy diploma in Lyon, I didn't have a penny, no car, only one rotten guitar, and I was very precisely at 7089 Km  (4392 Miles) from woodstock (it's a lot, on foot) 8)

.............................................................................................but don't forget my little surprise (coming soon on SC)

Where was I in June 65, (and you would have loved to be there too!)?

riddle open to all, propose your answer, the winner will have a case of white wine from Savoie ;D
