Hello Chaps & Chapesses,

First of all... apologies for being AWOL for such a long time. Events have been getting in the way (in a good way for a change). I just don't get the chance to do any "recreational" music these days. I haven't written a tune in over a year, or had the time to even listen to music. I cannot remember the last time I had the opportunity to sit down & play an album from start to finish. Since I was last here, my YouTube channel has taken off big time. In the last 12 months I've gone from 500 subscribers to around 8,500. This is starting to earn me some decent money - last month's big grocery shopping was paid for out of the ad revenue, for example. Obviously this means I'm having to focus on this and try to develop this further. I'm also getting more & more Skype students from all over the world - at the moment, I'm teaching people from Australia, Canada, USA, Costa Rica, Finland, Ireland & beyond.

With the YouTube videos, I soon noticed that the ones which were getting the most views (and therefore earning me the most money) were the gear reviews. So I set up a gofundme page to raise cash to buy guitars with. Once I've reviewed them, I auction them off with proceeds going to a local kids charity, Zoe's Place. They do lots of great work with under-fives who have life limiting illnesses. It's a well loved local charity & most people in this neck of the woods who do any kind of charity work usually do it in aid of this cause. Obviously there's a fair amount of admin which goes with this... doing accounts & so forth, which is in addition to the admin that any self employed sole trader like me has to endure.

I counted up the hours I worked last week & lost count after I passed 80hrs. Don't get me wrong, I'm LOVING it! But leisure time is just not there at the moment, so once again... apologies for being AWOL - I hope to be back creating music & sharing it with all my pals on here at some point, but work comes first :)

Cheers,

John.

I watched several of your vids on YT and have seen the quality improving, so it's clearly paying off. Well done and keep having fun! If you haven't got much time to come on here, make sure you plug the site mercilessly on your channel..... ;)

Great to hear from you again John - I've been a subscriber to your YT channel for quite a while now and watch most of your videos. I love the gear reviews and your tuition videos ( as long as there's not too much musical theory lol !) Looking forward to seeing you on SC again !
