I've said it before but Kenny Rogers had a huge impact on young Hook. Trying to find some motivation/inspiration and this one came courtesy of a banjo project I've been sitting on for a while. My 5 string banjo was falling apart and I really didn't like playing it with that short little 5th string. I always wanted a 4 string tenor banjo an I found an old beat up one a while back for 20 bucks on craigslist. It needed a new head and strings and I thought I could just take from the 5 string but no. I had to special order a head and I struggled to get it on the banjo, it's still not flat. The tail piece broke so I had to jerry rig that and the bridge using the 5 string parts but I did get a playable 4 string Tenor banjo out of the effort.

Is that just the banjo, or is there acoustic in there as well? Cool tone(s) regardless. Nice looking banjo to boot.

Great cover Hook ! My best friend Steve who passed away last year used to sing this if we ever went into a karaoke bar on holiday. The song always makes me think of him - thanks !
