Forgive me for my prolonged absence.  There has been so much that has happened in my life since I posted here last including losing several of my beloved family member (wife, parents, brother and 2 uncles).  On the good side, a new house which includes a dedicated studio room.  I don't use the incredible little Micro BR that most of you guys use.  I have a PC with Cakewalk as my DAW, EZ Keys and EZ Drummer by Toontrack, Trilian Bass Module and various other VSTIs.  This is one of my newer ones.  My voice is a bit rougher than it was years back mostly due to asthma, but I still try.   I'll have to hang around a bit more and listen to you guys and catch up, but it's great to be back.  Please forgive my absence.  Enjoy "Beyond the Writing on the Wall".

 :) John B.
There isn't anything for me beyond the writings on the wall
There isn't anything new under the sun
Beyond the double talk you give
there's just a smokescreen of your lies
Not even time can make it pass on by

All the times you said you would be mine forever
may as well have been from your fairy tale of lies
Did your sweet words promising a sweet bliss together
come from just an empty place
where love would meet demise?

There isn't anything to see past the kaleidoscope of pain
Only a love destroyed beyond repair
For me to trust in you again would only bring more of the same
A sense of hopelessness and deep despair

In my memory we could always trust each other
Nothing came between us then, when our love was young
Did we know for years or have we just discovered
Were we both too blind to see the void that was to come

Like the cold night air
your love is gone and you stare blindly as the cloudy skies
as all the beauty dies
I yearn for the morning sun. I fear the heartache has just begun
So much of a dream has died and it's all that I can do. I tried.

There isn't anything for me beyond the writings on the wall
There isn't anything new under the sun
Beyond this double talk you give there's just deception and such pain
and I don't ever think I'll love again

Nice to hear you're back, John. At first, I'm sorry for your loss. I remember the hearfelt music video about you and your wife, years ago. Anyway, I've missed your music!

The newest song has a real warm feel, I got a bit 70's vibe with this. Piano and your voice sounds so good together, there's nothing 'bad' with your voice. I like the string additions, they sound great! In a nutshell, professional job on each way! I'm on my second listening...

Thanks alot Redler.  I remember you were among my favorite artists here too.  I wonder if you could refresh my memory on how to set up the player with the lyrics contained inside.
Thanks so much!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses John B. This song has some very heartfelt and despairing lyric. Your voice and melody sound great to me as does the backing tracks. Well done.

This is wonderful John, I am on my second listen now. I am very sorry for your recent painful losses.

A very moving and lovely melody. Those lyrics are great too.

The chord changes and even the subject matter remind me of the album "Painted from Memory" by Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello.
