I'm absolutely sure that no one here knows this song...

"La compagnia" is a 1976 song, on the album "Lucio Battisti, la batteria, il contrabbasso eccetera". For all the Italian guys and girls of my generation, the name of Lucio Battisti is something like a myth...we lived our teen years with his songs, so near to our mood...Battist died exactly 20 years ago , so this one is my little tribute to a great singer and composer.

La compagnia is a kind of "Italian urban blues", and tells the story of a man, sad for the end of his love, who goes around rambling in the streets, till he hears some music coming out of a bar. So he joins "la compagnia" (the company) and himself is surprised that his pain has gone, since music and company defeated his sadness.

Guitars, vocals and bass: myself
Drums-organ-strings: BIAB

Ho camminato a lungo senza meta
finché ho sentito cantare in un bar
finché ho sentito cantare in un bar.

Canzoni e fumo
ed allegria
io ti ringrazio sconosciuta compagnia.

Enjoy!  :)

Very well done Alfstone! I'm not familiar with this song but I like the way it develops slowly into a real power house blues. A good one!

Stunning job here, Alfredo!

Liked the widely panned tracks, the organ tone is just perfect! So well performed!

Btw, I copy pasted the lyric onto google translator (from Italy to Finnish) and found out whats the lyric is about...very bluesy lyric.

Bravo!
