Henri Salvador,(1917-2008), is a French singer, composer and guitarist. He began playing in French jazz orchestras.
He is a popular artist, appreciated by a wide audience, he is the author of many songs : Syracuse, Maladie d'amour, Le Loup, la Biche et le Chevalier, Jardin d'hiver... He is considered as a crooner even though most of the time he sang humorous songs without much interest. He and Sacha Distel are the only two French variety singers to appear in the Dictionnaire du Jazz.
