A little while ago we did this.......
https://songcrafters.org/community/post-your-mp3-collaborations-only/t2409/75/

I've had a couple of requests to do it again 8)

So I've found a great Rockin' Backer with no less than 16 x 12 bars + outro :o
So if there are 8 of us throwing some licks together we can have a blast
We need a kind soul who can act as sound engineer on this as well

I'll have a go :) what key? Sound like a A to me is that right?
If you loose track over a chord progression, play as fast as you possibly can. Nobody will know. Thats how they invented bebop.

Mike, I'd be tempted to have a go and would be happy to be the engineer, but the bad news is I can't get to this for at least two weeks due to work commitments. Work has gone crazy and I have absolutley no spare time at all until early June. So if that's not too late, count me in but feel free to proceed without me if I'm holding things up.

Cheers,

Nigel

PS the Cm blues backer is underway but similarly on hold for the nexy couple of weeks...

It looks like this is going to be a slow burner! ::)
so your offer is great Nigel ;)
BTW ojimi Had a noodle this morning and the backer suits Gm better than A...many apologies

Over the next couple of days I will do the first 2 12 bars then post it for ojimi and so on
Please note the following
1. do not mix or master
2 adjust your lead vol to a similar vol to the other soloists
3. I will pan 40R so the next (ojimi) can pan 40L and so on

Any more for a rockin jam? ;)

Mike, do you mean don't master with the effects on.  The only way to add my guitar and turn this into a mp3 for the next guy to add to is to master (with effects on or off) and then generate the mp3 after.  I assume that is what you mean.
This is the way I understand it (correct me if wrong), you will import the backer into two stereo tracks (panned hard L&R) and record your guitar onto track 3 (panned 40R).  Then master without effects to generate the mp3.  Post that on here.  The next guy can take that import it into two stero tracks (panned hard L&R), record guitar on track 3 after your guitar part ends (panned 40L), master without effects, generate the mp3.  Post it on here, for the next guy.  The last guy to lay down his guitar should then master the thing with effects ON and use whatever mastering effect suitable (I would suggest Live mix).  The final mp3 gets posted here for all to hear in its glory.  If we do it this way, each taking his.her turn, there is no need for anybody to spend the time as "sound Engineer", just lay down your guitar part, master with effects OFF and post the mp3 here for the next guy.  The last guy masters with effects ON for the final polish.  Is this right?  This sounds like the easiest way to do this to me.

I think the best way (remembering the last one well :)) is that one guy receives all the contributions!
I say, to make it easier for the one putting it together, that the contributions sent are just the guitar (or other instrument of choice) without the backer OR the guitar panned hard right and backer hard left. Then we can put it all together with the original backer when everything is in and get the best possible quality.

To be sure every track's the right length everyone uses A-B repeat from time 00:00:00 to end-time before mastering.
