This looks interesting. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a price. It's expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2018.

I am the happy owner of the previous model (DP-24SD) since a couple of years, so I have no doubt this one will be a great recorder. Even more now that - as I see - it is also an interface (the DP-24SD is NOT an interface)

Yes, looking better it seems a live recording tool, more than a home studio...

Except it can record 24 discrete tracks to the SD card. It can also send 24 discrete tracks over USB to your DAW.

It probably doesn't have a drum machine or guitar effects but it does have some reverbs, delays, chorus, and flanger.

At today's exchange rate, that's $1,184.44 US which is a lot more than Sweetwater's price.

I recently got one of these:

No SD card, but apps for Android and IOS for control surface access, USB with 18 channels of 48K audio in and out, selectable inputs to each channel, either USB or analog in. Four internal effects busses, six external Aux busses, Main and Monitor out, WiFi or wired connection for control, Phantom power selectable per channel, individual mix access for the external Aux busses and the proprietary multi-channel digital buss for personal monitor mixes.

I have used it live twice now, getting the hang of it and in the studio it's a really flexible 18 channel sound card.

It's really convenient to use live, it's like having a stage box without the associated massive chunky cable and the ability to move around a venue with a tablet and have full access to the mixer is really neat.

The D to A's are nice, the EQ access is so cool, you can pull the response curves around and change the Q on the fly with a couple of fingers, it is really well thought out and it just works.

Just over £500, the down side is you need to have a fairly capable tablet, my iPad2 just isn't fast enough but the Samsung Tab3 is, as is my Samsung S7, but it eats the battery on the phone.

Worth a look

The Tascam mixer and recorder would be really handy for live studio sessions with a band, to hear what the music really sounds like , rather than what you think it sound like , great live tool to have , bit expensive for me and the band to use , but hey you never know !
