I had this one written on Saturday. Was just a cajon from garageband, 2 guitar tracks and a guide vocal. Got back to it today and added bass guitar and three juno di tracks (low in the mix to add some atmosphherics) and ended up keeping the guide vocal.

anyway it is what it is.

It takes a lot to realise
It takes a toll to see
Are you living in a dream
Or reflecting on reality
Oh you never turn your head around
To see another way
It took another pair of eyes
To really let you see
That there's hope for you there's hope for me
Be anything we want to be
The futures there for you to see
The past is just a memory
Oh You never turn your head around
To see another way
It took another pair of eyes
To really let you see

It needn't be the way it is
Let's change the way things are
There's no standing still or going back
You should be reaching for the stars
Oh you never turn your head around
To see another way
It took another pair of eyes
To really let you see
We all need hope we all need love
We all need something to reach for
You've learned to walk so try to run
And if you fall I'll pick you up
Oh you never turn your head around
To see another way
It took another pair of eyes
To really let you see

Yes loved it lots, great guitars, bass and synth and the vox is spot on but my only issue  is with the drums in my humble opinion a more acoustic  sounding  kit may have worked  better, hope I've not offended  you, love your work!

You've created very atmospheric tunes lately, like this. Some indie vibes from the nineteens, imo! Fine job!

I had no idea you were such a good bass player! Love the rolling bass line.
Tele sounds great ( don't they all?) Cool tune James!

Another gentle, thoughtful tune from Jim, very nicely done. Loving the jangly Teles and can only agree that the bass line adds a really good groove to the song. I would say maybe bring the vox a bit more upfront to really hear the lyrics but as it is now they blend into an overall dreamy feel. Maybe that's the "guide" nature of them, not quite as upfront as a "full on" performance.

It all works very well though, very much enjoyed this.

Certainly no need to do another vocal, this sounds great to me. Love the lyrics.   Willie

What he said.

Tangent (from one atheist to another): About a week ago God Said No by Dan Bern passed through my music shuffle (where the wait can be as long as 10 years).

This song — like yours — really touched me. Musically they are very different. But both songs take a very humanistic and compassionate view of time. Now is all we have. Looking backwards has limited value.

Some wicked wonderful chord changes in here. There's a lovely rolling ambience to it, and the vocal sits just right. Reminds me, vocally,  of the Lightning Seeds on the verse. The panned Teles are so lush and moreish. Great stuff.

love it. i love the sparse playing on the guitar... it give space for that great bass line to shine. great number.
