Zoom G5N Multi-effects

Apart from my uke its a few years since I bought anything new guitar-related. I use a BR 600 for my recordings and just use the effects patches for my guitar sound. I know they're "tweakable" but I'm too lazy to bother. On a couple of tracks, I've used my Peavey Modelling amp direct into the BR600 as I can then choose which amp model I want and effects. As I've not gigged or played out for a few years, my amps have been tucked away by Mrs C and are difficult to get at !  So I suddenly got GAS for a multieffect unit and chose the Zoom G5N. I can plug it directly into the BR600 and set up my own chain of amp, cabinet and effects a lot more easily. Its got a looper and rhythms too so it's going to be handy for practising rather than playing on an unplugged electric like I've been doing.

I do not have it, but everywhere I read, reviews about the new generationZoom multi-effects are very, very positive. There is also a software, with it you may download on your Zoom new patches produced by Zoom itself or other third party producers.

So, it should be really a good choice.

I have the G3n and have been loving it,  HAd a GNX3 that I used for years but this unit is so much easier to tweak tones and it is small easy to carry to a gig. I use this and a Vocalist 5, easy go direct for vocal off the vocalist on one line and the other for the Zoom. No more lugging heavy amps and Cabs. Something about the amps gaining a few pounds every year LOL, Now one bag hold both units and my guitar and we are good to go.

I've used the older generation Zoom guitar and bass multi-effects and always liked them, so I would imagine this is probably a move forward. I switched to a Boss desktop multieffects unit.

I think these things are ideal for home recording. You can do a helluva lot with them. Trouble is, there are so many choices and options, you can spend hours just fiddling with effects chains and parameter settings...... But then that's a kind of Zen thing, right? Living in the moment and all that.
