Wow, I'm a so late in posting my notes - what can I say, it was a busy week & weekend. So here we go...

First, about the venue: One Longfellow Square in Portland is located in a downtown corner building that used to house a dry cleaning business. This was the first time I've gone to a show there. Anyway, it opens from a small corner room with a bar into to a hall-sized room that holds a little under 200 seats. I was surprised at how nice the acoustics were, and I recorded a few bits with my iPhone camera.

Mr. Hitchcock played the set in two parts separated by a brief intermission. He started out with a new song I hadn't heard yet, but then segued into more familiar territory: My Wife and My Dead Wife (which lyrically is quite a bit more sinister than I remember it being when I first heard it back in the Eighties), Madonna of the Wasps, Ghost Ship, and Cynthia Mask - and mixed it up with some later stuff like Adventure Rocketship and Trilobite. He ended the show with a couple of duets with the lovely Emma Swift: Motion Pictures and Queen Elvis. As usual, he wore different polka dot shirts (black with white, and green with white for parts 1 & 2, respectively), and waxed philosophical and/or surrealistic between songs, including some banter with the sound man on the kind of echo effects he wanted between songs, all done with good humor.

I took a few pictures with my iPhone, but they came out blurry. However, the videos came out looking (and sounding) pretty crisp. I tried to be discreet while recording, and also to keep them brief although others were using their phones similarly.

So without further ado, on to the videos (the first two are very short):

And - they've got a Chris Hillman (of The Byrds) show at One Longfellow Square on 17 Jun. Think I'll be there! :)
