Dedicated to Tommy and to the wonderful land of Ireland I love so much.

Alfredo

...OK, OK, I know the music is the same of the Scottish "Loch Lomond" air, but I love Scotland too...  ;D

a great moment of musical pleasure
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

This is an awesome composition! Are there lyrics for this song?
If not, it is worth the time to write some for it.

Well done!

Nice job Alfredo. It reminds me a bit of the recording of "Loch Lomond" by Celtic Spirit featuring Stuart "Woody" Wood on guitar. When I first heard it, I didn't know who he was but I looked him up and found that he was the bass guitarist in the Bay City Rollers. :)  He plays Loch Lomond really well, and so do you.

You've given it a nice Irish feeling, but I think it would sound even more Irish if you got someone to sing it with the Irish lyrics.

Red Is the Rose
(traditional Irish folk song)

Come over the hill, my bonnie Irish lass
Come over the hill to your darling
You chose a rose love and I have made a vow
Thet she'll be my true love forever

Chorus
Red is the Rose by yonder garden grows
And fair is the lily of the valley
Clear is the water that flows from the Boyne
But my love is fairer than any.

T'was down by Killarney's green woods that we strayed
And the moon and the stars they were shining
The moon shone its rays on her locks of golden hair
And she swore she'd be my love forever.

Chorus

It's not for the parting that my sister pains
It's not for the grief of my mother
It is all for the loss of my bonnie Irish lass
That my heart is breaking forever.

Chorus

Yes, 64, the funny thing about this song is that the same melody has two different lyrics, Loch Lomond in Scotland and Red is the Rose in Ireland...who knows why?

Thanks for the link of the Celtic Spirit version. I had never heard it, but I have to say that there are several analogies with my version, I'm surprised! In these situations, when I see that a song repeats the same from the beginning to the end (...and therefore lyrics are so important...), I prefer to give just a sample of the melody line, and then go on with variations/improvisations, elsewhere it could be boring and meaningless.

Absolutely true about the "more Irish feeling", but would you feel *authentic* an Italian guy SINGING an Irish song? Not at all...Music is universal, but singing is much less universal, I think...This is (one of) my main problem(s) with singing in different languages.

But hey, no problem, come on, if someone would like to sing it, I can easily re-arrange it for a vocal version, so volunteers are welcome!  :D

Thanks everybody!

Alfredo

JP, thank you!

The sound of the guitar...you know, I'm very picky for this kind of things  8)

This time, the guitar is my warhorse, the Italian Eko Evo 018. Unexpensive but very good:

It goes into the Kemper using one of the GREAT acoustic rigs by one of the most famous Italian guitarists, Massimo Varini:

So, Kemper apart, everything is an Italian job, this time!  ;D
