I have never used a USB mic before. I know some people use them to record Podcast.
There are plenty of good Condensers on the market though, just need phantom power.

im under the impression that they are powered by they usb port. Where conventional condensedr mic need an external pwer source.
My StudioProjects C1 is powered by my audio interface for example.

The Rode name is one of the top notch microphones in the recording world, but like I said I have never tried a USB digital mic.
You might want to research it a bit further. Here's an interesting article about the USB route. http://usb-condenser-microphones.articles.r-tt.com/

USB Mics are great for podcasts and other applications where critical timing of audio is not that important.

If you are using them to record into a DAW for example as a single track over a backer, then they can work well.

However, the latency that I have found with some USB mics means that they are not as flexible as a conventionally connected mic, such as through an external sound card with well written ASIO drivers.

I would suggest you decide how you would like to use it and try some USB mics to make sure they work the way you want them to.

Yah I see where it would be a good podcast solution. That would not work for me.
I'll save up for a better mic -i think the preamp in my motu and steinberg interfaces sound decent enough

i started considering the usb mics only because the convenience of them
